The Lincoln County Commission has formally gone on record as acknowledging mankind’s greenhouse gas effects on our Earth’s atmosphere by proclaiming Climate Change a scientifically valid threat to the health of our “Tiny Blue Dot in an Endless Space.”
Commissioners adopted a resolution urging all Newport residents to consider joining the fight to stop Climate Change while there’s still time.
Here is the final paragraph of the Commission’s proclamation:
Now therefore, the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners:
Urges residents, visitors, businesses, private parties and public entities in the County to do their part in reducing climate change impacts to our coastal community and beyond.
Towards that end the Board recognizes the “Lincoln County Climate Change Partnership” consisting of public and private groups and individuals who may voluntarily participate in public forums that will seek to educate us about and address the impacts of the climate change crisis. Lincoln County will publicize these partnership forums, continue to identify and disseminate information on local, state and national legislation, policy creation, and innovate solution discussions addressing these issues and regularly update the Board of Commissioners, the partnership and the public on these critical matters, especially during the upcoming Oregon legislative session.
