Kids Zone open Veterans Day and week of Thanksgiving!
Neighbors For Kids (NFK) is happy to announce that the Kids Zone will be open on Veteran’s Day, November 12th and also November 19 – 21, leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday. NFK’s staff have already planned days full of fun activities and healthy meals will be served. Pre-school children ages 3-5 and school-age kids ages 6-18 are all welcome to attend any one or all of the days offered in November.
The theme on Monday, November 12th will be “Superhero’s Day”, in honor of Veteran’s Day. Kids will be able to create their own superhero with its own unique powers, design and build a costume and tell their story! The activity will incorporate arts and crafts, reading, writing and creative imagination, while honoring those heroes who make a positive impact on their community.
“Gratitude Camp” will be the theme for November 19th-21st, and throughout the week kids will take part in fun, interactive activities around being thankful and being kind to others. Those who attend will create artwork, play fun games and share stories about the power of positive affirmations. There will also be Thanksgiving-focused activities and cooking projects to help celebrate the holiday.
NFK will offer round-trip transportation to the site from locations in Newport and Lincoln City, Monday-Wednesday during the week of Thanksgiving. There are limited spots available, so parents must call NFK to reserve their child’s spot and make arrangements to be picked up.
For parents interested in enrolling their children, the program will be open daily from 8:00-5:30, with a fee of $30 per day or $15 for a half-day, with a sliding scale for families. Youth in 7th grade and up can attend for free. Scholarships are available. All children who attend will receive nutritious meals and snacks throughout the day, as well as on-site activities such as visual arts, music, games, sports, science and much more.
