David Allen offers the voters an extensive political resume. After completing his current term he will have completed 12 years of public service on the Newport City Council. During his tenure on the council he has served as council president, chair of the urban renewal agency, chair of the infrastructure task force, and has chaired the city’s audit committee for several years.
For the past three years, David has served on the board of directors for the League of Oregon Cities working on issues on behalf of cities across the state.
Other relevant governmental experience includes 13 years of public service on the Oregon Ocean Policy Advisory Council (OPAC) as a governor-appointed coastal representative. OPAC’s task was to evaluate and implement ocean and natural resource planning policies from both coastal and statewide perspectives.
David and I at times differ on issues affecting the city. But I always respected the fact that he evaluates the pros and cons of what at times are challenging matters affecting the city before the council prior to casting his vote. I have never seen him taking the politically expedient path. He consistently executes his oversight responsibilities of the city’s management in accordance with the City Charter.
Join me in re-electing David Allen to the Newport City Council.
