When first responders arrived they located Mr. Lowery lying on the street unconscious. He was immediately transported by medics to Samaritan Pacific Hospital in Newport. But due to the seriousness of his head injury he was immediately flown to the medical trauma center in Corvallis.
The Toledo Police Department investigated the incident and determined that it did not appear foul play was a factor in the injuries. After several days in the hospital Mr. Lowery died from his injuries. Late last week an autopsy was conducted and it was determined his death was caused by injuries consistent with a fall and therefore his death was ruled as accidental. It did appear that alcohol intoxication was a factor in his fall.
