Joshua Gilleo was transported from the Lincoln County Jil to the State Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy was conducted on Friday, October 26th. The State Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Mr. Gilleo’s cause of death as suicide. The cause of death was consistent with evidence located at the scene by Newport investigators.
Mr. Gilleo’s next of kin were notified.

On October 25, 2018 at approximately 10:27 pm, during a routine inmate welfare check, Lincoln County Jail deputies discovered inmate Joshua Gilleo of Depoe Bay unresponsive.
Jail staff immediately began CPR, administered the AED and medics were called. Medics arrived and took over CPR. Subject was pronounced deceased by paramedics. At the time of the incident the subject was housed in a single cell. Jail deputies completed routine inmate welfare checks approximately 50 minutes prior to the incident.
Subject was lodged in the Lincoln County Jail on the charges of Unlawful Use of Weapon; Endangering a Person Protected by a Family Abuse Prevention Act (Restraining Order), Possession of Prohibited Firearm, Menacing, Contempt of Court x 3, total security set in the amount of $135,000.00.
