There’s been a lot of shooting of wolves in Eastern Oregon by ranchers lately, ranchers who convinced ODFW officials that they were doing all they could to protect their herds. Ranchers say it wasn’t enough to stem the loss of cattle.
But the situation appears to be changing – those state officials want ranchers to show definite proof that they are doing all they can to protect their herds. They want it documented. And they want an expansion of non-lethal weapons to ward off the wolves – projectiles that hurt but don’t kill.
