Toledo Police report that someone is going around with a big sword or something similar and damaging the political campaign signs of two candidates for the Toledo City Council – former City Councilor Terri Strom and former Mayor Billie Jo Smith. Their signs on the road in from Highway 20 near the Dairy Queen were sliced in two sometime during Wednesday night.
Upon learning about the incident both candidates went out and re-assembled their signs. Mayor Billie Jo Smith said “It’s so unfortunate that this happened. I’m just shocked.”
Police Chief David Enyeart told News Lincoln County that it’s against the law to damage campaign signs. He added, “There’s a fine that goes with the violation.” Enyeart says if anyone knows who vandalized the campaign signs to call Toledo Police at 541.351.5555.
