A garden filled with well-chosen heather cultivars can be colorful every month of the year. In fact, such a garden can have heathers in bloom in every season. Landscapers, big box stores and most garden centers offer a very limited selection of heathers and even less information about how to properly care for them. Ella May Wulff, who gardens in Philomath, OR will talk about the world of hardy heathers and explain what you need to do to keep these shrubs in your garden for decades.
Ella May has been gardening since she was a child, lovingly guided by her wonderful god-mother who took her to flower shows every year. Orchids are her lifelong passion. However, she re-discovered heathers, her primary horticultural interest and area of expertise, during a visit to a rock garden nursery.
Join fellow gardeners and plant lovers for an exploration of the world of hardy heathers on Wednesday, October 17 at the Seal Rock Garden Clubhouse located at 10377 NW Rand Street, in Seal Rock, next to the old Seal Rock Fire Department. The program begins at 11:00 a.m. with a business meeting and snacks following. The program is open to the public with free admission.
