Doug Hunt for Lincoln County Commissioner
Doug has concentrated on job creation, economic development, improving our roads and infrastructure, including our services to veterans and seniors plus critically important emergency preparedness. In addition, with over 39 years of experience in private sector finance, he has brought a business approach to the county budget – limiting growth of county government, working to assure a stable financial future for our county and for the important services we deliver to our citizens.
Doug has served as Commissioner since 2012 and as a result, our county reserves have increased, maintained services to our citizens, and carefully added staff for public safety, mental, public and physical health care and to address domestic violence. He improved expanded services through innovative programs, staffing and reorganization of Health and Human Services Department. We serve on the Lincoln County Community Health Council and worked with Doug on the reorganization. That collaboration has improved the overall communication and proficiency of those agencies.
Housing is such a critical challenge facing our county, its businesses and our citizens, whether it’s homelessness, affordable or work-force housing. Doug is constantly working on this critical issue as well as the mental health challenges we have in our county. One amazing program that Doug helped implement is the Stepping Up initiative helping to keep the mentally ill out of our corrections systems.
As a county commissioner he consistently attends community events and meetings throughout the county. One of the important duties of a Commissioner is to be present and visible to the community.
Doug is a great supporter of women and their rights to determine their own healthcare; he does not tolerate sexual harassment or bullying. Doug fights for and believes in equal rights for all!
For these and many more reasons, we are fully supportive of Doug Hunt to continue as our Commissioner with his vision and support of our county.
