From Lincoln County Community Rights
We have learned through the Oregon Department of Forestry notification system that 29 acres of the property off Parkview Street that was logged this past winter/early spring will be sprayed this fall. The slash will be burned. The spray could happen as early as October 2 or as late as December 31. The chemicals to be used are a mix of Rodeo (glyphosate, also sold as Round-up), Polaris AC, Oust Extra, Garlon 4, Escort, MSO surfactant, and possibly others. They will be applied from the ground, probably with backpack sprayers.
To read the entire notification with map, you must register with the FERNS notification system using this link: https://ferns.odf.oregon.gov/e-notification, then look up NOAP 2018-553-12688, Seal Rock Site Prep. If you have any questions, please call the Oregon Department of Forestry at 541 336 2273.
Special alert to Vietnam veterans living in the area where the spraying will occur, so that you can take the necessary precautions!!! If 2,4-D is being used, or any compound containing chlorine, it can re-expose you to dioxin, which is already in your tissues from your Vietnam service. Ask the Oregon Department of Forestry for a 24-48 hr. notification. Close doors and windows of your home, keep pets inside, or leave the area.
Be as safe as you can be under these circumstances!
