Celebrated Chef and family man Garnett Black has apparently died in his sleep – cause of death unknown as yet. He leaves behind his wife, his children and hundreds if not thousands of loyal fans of his culinary talents.
Garnett was born in the midwest where he attended the Culinary Institute of Midland Michigan as well as the Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management programs at Schoolcraft College.
When he moved to the Oregon Coast he helped to establish the Olalla Golf Course restaurant, moved to the Embarcadero as a chef then to the Shilo where he was currently working.
Garnett’s friends are beside themselves with grief at the loss of what they describe was a wonderful family man, a fabulous and many award winning chef as well as a community booster in the finest sense of the word.
