California, 6th largest economy in the world, takes bold steps to stop contributing to climate change
California Governor Jerry Brown has signed legislation for the Golden State to stay golden, if it’s not too late. Governor Brown signed a bill that would make California’s electric power generation ZERO CARBON EMITTING by 2045.
After signing the bill, Governor Brown also called for further lowering emissions across California’s economy through more enlightened soil and forest management. Brown said once California becomes carbon neutral — with the amount of carbon emitted offset by carbon pulled from the atmosphere — California would be positioned to reduce carbon in California’s overall environment by supporting California soils and forests so they can do what they do best – suck carbon out of the air and use it for growing plants – both edible and otherwise.
