Lincoln County School District is pleased to announce that they have offered a newly created position of Hispanic Family and Community Liaison to existing staff member, Ana Gil.

Ana Gil started with the LCSD in 1995 as an assistant and bilingual tutor. She consistently goes the extra mile to help Spanish speaking families understand what is best to support their students. When asked what she feels is important about this new position she replied, “My job is very important because I will be able to find resources and create a bridge of communication between the Hispanic Community, Lincoln County School District and agencies.”

The primary purpose of this position is to provide a bridge of communication between the Hispanic community of Lincoln County and the Lincoln County School District. The Hispanic Family and Community Liaison is the primary advocate and systems navigator for LCSD’s Hispanic families. This work requires speaking in Spanish and English with Spanish speaking students and families. This will include translating supports for Spanish speaking parents.

Dr. Karen Gray, Superintendent of Lincoln County School District, explained that this hire is part of the overall plan to increase equity in the district. “This position will help to ensure that all students in our district have the support they need to be successful and engaged in our schools. The families will have a trusted ally to help them navigate the policies and programs offered in our schools. They should feel welcomed.”
