Forestry officials say that in-the-field fatigue fighting fires can and does claim lives among firefighters every summer as they battle blazes across the country.
A recent survey conducted by forestry officials in the Pacific Northwest dramatically suggests that the recent rapid increase in “infield firefighting deaths” reveals something needs to change in the way firefighters are deployed and supported.
