Sweet Adeline Christmas Chorus Begins September 6
Women who have fun memories of singing in a chorus as a teen or females between 14 and 95 who just like to sing are prime candidates for joining the Sweet Adelines for their Christmas Chorus. The Christmas Chorus will learn about 10 Christmas Songs in 4-part harmony and perform in nursing homes and community events starting with the Christmas tree lighting at the Lincoln City Cultural Center, November 23. Practice begins on Thursday, September 6 from 6:30-9:00 at the American Legion, 424 W. Olive, Newport. Practice continues every Thursday throughout the fall. A $10.00 fee will be charged to offset music and learning track costs. “We encourage everyone to come and try singing with us and then decide if it is for you or not,” says Evelyn Brookhyser, Team Leader. “In addition, you will develop new vocal skills, it will be fun and you will make new friends.”
Sweet Adelines is an International singing organization that provides education to all its members for singing well. They sing in four part harmony without any accompaniment. The Oregon Coast Chorus provides CD’s for learning your part so it is not necessary to know how to read music to join. You will be placed in the part that best fits your voice range and interest. Sweet Adelines’ voices are tenor for the people who can sing high notes, Lead for a normal woman voice range, Baritone for the alto range and Bass for females who can sing low notes.
