Newport Police Department were dispatched Sunday to the 1700 block of Hwy 101, on report of a subject pointing a firearm at others.
Three male victims reported they had been walking through the parking lot between the Mini Pet Mart and Why Pay More, when they encountered the subject.
The subject, later identified as Terry McCutcheon, 44 of Newport, was sitting in his vehicle, intoxicated, when he became confrontational with the three males for playing music he didn’t like.
McCutcheon exited his vehicle to confront the victims and when the victims did not change the music, McCutcheon reached inside his vehicle and grabbed a firearm.
McCutcheon proceeded to load the firearm and pointed it at the three males, who fled the area and contacted Police.
McCutcheon fled the area is his vehicle and was located a short distance away. Newport officers approached McCutcheon and could see a handgun lying in plain sight on the seat next to him.
McCutcheon was arrested at the scene and lodged in the Lincoln County Jail for the following charges:
