Newport Firefighters arriving on scene of a report of a fire at a residence at SW 8th and Government Streets. Fire Chief Rob Murphy says no smoke showing. Investigating.

Chief Rob Murphy there is fire inside a wall. Likely electrical. Orders PGE to shut power off to the house. Calls for more back up personnel and more fire engines.

Chief Murphy says they’ve ripped open the wall and drowned the fire.
