3:42pm Traffic Update from Glen Weaver
Traffic is backed up northbound from Ona Beach curve.
Head on crash between two vehicles and a semi. Serious injuries. Victim, adult male, is trapped in the wreckage. Heavy extrication required. 101 is completely SHUT DOWN.
Arriving fire-rescue calling for more help. Engine from Depoe Bay is being summoned.
More back up help from Central Coast Fire has been summoned to the scene.
With Depoe Bay Fire heading south to help with the accident, a North Lincoln Fire engine crew is headed to man a station in Depoe Bay to ensure they’re got emergency coverage as needed in that part of the county.

Life Flight air ambulance due to land at the Newport Airport. Ground ambulance will meet up with them. The male victim is being pulled from the wreckage. He remains unconscious. Condition unknown other than seriously injured
Male victim has been pulled from the wreckage. Medics will attempt to stabilize him and prepare him for a flight to the Corvallis Trauma Center. Life Flight is just about to arrive at Newport Airport. Newport Fire Chief Rob Murphy just told Life Flight the ambulance should be on scene with the patient by the time they get there. So, it’ll be a quick load and a fast lift off.

Another crash victim has been determined to be injured enough for an ambulance trip to PCH in Newport.
Life Flight has lifted off with its patient and is headed for a Valley trauma unit.
Traffic backed up to the north to the Yaquina Bay Bridge. Firefighters sent to someone stuck in traffic on the bridge running out of oxygen she needs to breathe.
