Newport City Councilor Laura Swanson has resigned her seat on the Newport City Council, citing health reasons. It means there will be another city council race in addition to seats held by Wendy Engler and Mark Saelens. The two other seats in play are due to announced candidates for Mayor, Councilor Dean Sawyer and Councilor Dietmar Goebel.
