Celebrate July 4th with a BBQ & Newport Symphony Orchestra’s Free Concert This Wednesday!
Celebrate America and a grand ol’ 4th of July with the Newport Symphony Orchestra at the Ocean in the Newport Middle School for the orchestra’s annual free community concert beginning at 4:00 p.m. this Wednesday!
Under the baton of Music Director and Conductor Adam Flatt, the performance includes a wonderful variety of popular music from the American songbook plus a musical salute to all of our uniformed services.
Music will include John Philip Sousa’s “Invincible Eagle”, a selection from Ferde Grofe’s “Grand Canyon Suite”, Woodie Guthrie’s “This Land is your Land”, Richard Rodgers’ Suite from “Oklahoma” celebrating the 75th anniversary of the show plus much more including a tribute to the end of World War I, 100 years ago this November.
No tickets are needed for this free concert, celebrating America, just come and enjoy!
Pre-Concert BBQ presented by the American Legion Post #116
Join the Orchestra before the concert at 2:30pm – 4:00pm at the Newport Middle School Commons for a special 4th of July BBQ catered by Newport’s American Legion Post 116! Hamburgers, hot dogs, salad and more will be served for only $10 per person and $5 for kids 12 and under. All proceeds benefit the Newport American Legion’s youth baseball program.
The Newport Symphony Orchestra at the Ocean summer season is presented by Georgia-Pacific, and the July 4th concert sponsors are Oregon Coast Bank, Rogue Brewery, and Yaquina Bay Communications. Newport Middle School is located at 825 NE 7th St, Newport.
