On June 25th during a public meeting, the Port of Newport elected to exercise it contractual right to terminate the employment contract with the current General Manager for the Port of Newport, effective June 26th, 2018. The justification for this action was rooted in how well the General Manager fit in with the practical aspects of the position. The Port of Newport intends to uphold all the remaining aspects of the contract signed by both the General Manager and the Port of Newport at the time of hire. The Port of Newport thanks Mr. Parsons for his service to the port and the community and wishes him well in his future endeavors.
