Newport Police have arrested two individuals in the area of Sam Case School on drug charges. Police say a Newport Police K9 Officer witnessed Douglas Graham operating a vehicle with a suspended license. The Officer conducted a traffic stop for the violation and identified the passenger in the vehicle as Athena Watkins. Both are residents of the Newport area.
The officer discovered that Newport Police Department had been receiving information over several months that Graham was actively involved in the sale of illegal narcotics.
The officer then deployed his Narcotic Detection K9, Nero, on Graham’s vehicle. Nero positively alerted to the presence of an illegal narcotics odor coming from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle produced a large amount of Methamphetamine, packaging materials, digital weigh scales, various paraphernalia items and a considerable quantity of U.S. currency.
Graham and Watkins were both arrested and lodged at the Lincoln County Jail on the following charges:
Unlawful Possession of Meth and unlawful Delivery of Meth
Unlawful Manufacture of Meth
Delivery of Meth within 1000’ of a school
Manufacture of Meth within 1000’ of a school
