I find sad irony in the current refugee situation on our southern border. The stories from Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Mexico and many other of our southern neighbors all involve fleeing from horrific levels of crime and corruption around narco trafficking.
The United States remains the world’s largest market for narcotics and is struggling with an Opioid Epidemic increasing costs to our health care and law enforcement agencies as well as families and communities. Some people profit from this black market while families in all the countries involved suffer horribly.
You party animals out there take note. We are all bearing the burden of your “recreational” drug use. There is a frightened immigrant child in detention somewhere right now whose family may never find them. That child is yours. You put them there.
