June 6th, 2018 Neighbors For Kids (NFK) was invited to Spirit Mountain Community Fund’s quarterly check presentation in Grand Ronde. NFK was one of nearly 30 non-profit organizations that received grant funding for their programs. NFK has received strong support from the Grand Ronde tribe since building the new facility in 2010 and the tribe’s generous donations have been instrumental to the success of NFK and to meeting the needs of the community.
During the ceremony, the group was shown a video about the history of the tribe, featuring a video clip of former Congresswoman Darlene Hooley, one of their board of trustees. To the surprise of Board Chair Liz Martin and Executive Director Toby Winn, she talked about NFK and their Depoe Bay-based program and how important it is for kids. NFK representatives felt truly honored to be recognized in the tribe’s video. Liz Martin stated, “we are very grateful that the tribe believes in our mission and helps us serve the children and families of Depoe Bay and its surrounding communities”.
To top it off, there was a raffle drawing and all non-profits were entered. Again to their surprise, NFK’s ticket was pulled and they were given a beautiful hand-woven blanket made by a tribal member. NFK appreciates the contributions from Spirit Mountain Community Fund and looks forward to their ongoing partnership. NFK board members, staff and volunteers thank the Grand Ronde tribe for their generosity and support.
