Citizens Rally Saturday, Newport City Hall – Protesting family separations at the border – some incarcerated at Sheridan Federal Prison near McMinnville
Local Citizen Activist Franki Trajillo-Dalbey and others are holding a Citizens Rally at Newport City Hall this Saturday to protest the separation of immigrant children from their parents at detention facilities along the borders and throughout the west. One of them is at Sheridan Federal Prison between Grand Ronde and McMinnville on Highway 18.
Trajillo-Dalbey says “The outrage of children being forcibly separated from their families, who are only fleeing oppression and violence in Central America, cannot go unchallenged.”
She told NewsLincolnCounty.com “It will be an old fashioned rally with speakers, music, and information on actions that can taken to stop this horrific policy of taking babies and children away from their mothers. Not only that, they have no legal representation and are being jailed in tent cities for no more than committing the crime of being an immigrant.”
The Citizens Rally will begin at 1pm, Saturday, Newport City Hall at Coast Highway and SW Angle.
