A young Waldport woman was killed in a head-on crash early Saturday morning on Highway 34 near Tidewater.
Oregon state Police say Lillian Fawcett, 20, of Waldport was headed west on Highway 34 about 7 miles east of Waldport when her car crossed over the center line and into the path of an oncoming tow truck. Fawcett was pronounced deceased at the scene. Tow truck driver Michael Miller, 49 of Newport survived the crash without injury.
Traffic was affected on Highway 34 for approximately 6.5 hours following the crash. OSP was assisted by Central Coast Fire and Rescue, Pacific West Ambulance, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and ODOT.
Friends and family of Lilly Fawcett will gather at the Beachside Buzz in Waldport throughout the day on June 9th. The coffee-to-go place is just south of Copeland Lumber atop the hill south of Waldport at 1442 SW Pacific Coast Highway. All proceeds on June 9th will go to Lilly’s family.
