Orcas out for a Springtime Jaunt upriver…
The 12th annual Orca Awareness Month is coming up in June! Whale and Dolphin Conservation and the Newport Chapter of Surfrider Foundatuon are partnering for a beach cleanup during Orca Month as part of the Seattle Aquarium’s Hour for the Ocean program. The public is invited to help our orcas, our beaches, and our communities by spending an Hour for the Oceans cleaning up Agate Beach on Saturday, June 9. Meet at Agate Beach Wayside at 10am. Supplies will be provided, just show up and help make Oregon beaches beautiful.

WDC, Whale and Dolphin Conservation is the leading charity dedicated to the protection of whales and dolphins. This regional cleanup event has locations throughout the Northwest. Come learn about orcas off the Oregon coast, our unique endangered Southern Resident community, and how you can help them. Join WDC and Surfrider to raise awareness about the imperiled fate of the iconic Southern Resident orcas. Their survival is threatened primarily due to a dramatic reduction in their favorite prey, Chinook salmon, and multiple additional threats that impede the recovery of both orcas and salmon.
