Toledo Lady Boomers Advance to Quarterfinals on Road to State Championship
Continuing to make history, the Toledo Lady Boomers Softball team defeated Butte Falls yesterday in the first round of the State playoffs. Led by their pitcher, Senior Mikayla Retherford, the Boomers defeated the Butte Falls Athletics 5-0. Sophomore Kaycie Otis hit an in-the-park home run – not on errors but on the sheer strength and placement of her hit and her unmatched running speed. Every member of the squad contributed to the victory with steadfast defense and no errors. Toledo is the only 2A team from Lincoln County still standing on the road to the championship as the Waldport Irish and Siletz Warriors were both eliminated during games yesterday.
