REGISTRATION OPEN FOR SUMMER THEATER WORKSHOP, JUNE 18-29 AT THE LINCOLN CITY CULTURAL CENTER
LINCOLN CITY – Fun, challenge and rewards await local students, as the Lincoln City Cultural Center unveils a new two-week summer performance workshop. Called “It’s a Tricky World,” this opportunity is open to youth entering 3rd through 10th grades, and will begin on Monday, June 18, at the LCCC. Pre-registration is required; forms can be picked up at the LCCC or downloaded from its website, lincolncityculturalcenter.org.
The students will work with an original script featuring multi-cultural tricksters such as Anansi, Coyote and Monkey. Under the direction of Kaline Klaas and Julie Fiedler, the students will participate in daily theater games and exercises to build acting skills and develop character using voice, body language and mime.
“There are rich and complex roles for the experienced students and delightful roles for the beginner,” said Klaas. “Everyone gets a speaking part and rehearsals build on critical thinking and cooperative problem solving, as characters develop and actors form friendships.”
Students will also be involved in building props, set pieces and costumes. The workshop will culminate on Friday, June 29, with a polished performance on stage at the LCCC, guaranteed to delight audiences of all ages.
Workshop hours will be 9 am to 11:30 am Monday through Friday at the LCCC, 540 NE Hwy. 101, Lincoln City. Students must enroll for both weeks, and be available for the performance on the evening of June 29. The registration fee for the two-week morning camp is $50 per student. To register, pick up a form at the LCCC, fill it out and return with payment (cash, checks or credit cards) to the Information Center. Or, pay online at lincolncityculturalcenter.org (click the “Buy Tickets” button) and bring your completed form with you on June 18.
