Mr. Granat, only 28 years of age at his passing, graduated from Western Oregon University with a History Degree who soon developed a longing to be a businessman in a beautiful place. That beautiful place turned out to be Depoe Bay where he soon established a tourist attraction – The Taffy Depoe on Highway 101, right downtown. Notice the spelling.
Mr. Granat, with deep religious faith, was politically active in Oregon’s Republican Party and got to know some of the party’s more notable figures. His own modest political aspirations were furthered in Depoe Bay by being appointed, by the city council, to serve on the Depoe Bay Parks Commission.
Tragically, last week, Mr. Granat’s life was cut short by a sudden and deadly medical condition. There has been no formal announcement as to the cause of his demise.
Mr. Granat’s memorial service will be held at South Beach Church in Newport, and will take place on Saturday, May 19th at 3 pm.
