“Call for Entries” are now being accepted for the 2nd Oregon Coast Invitational Youth Art Festival, open to Oregon Youth currently in 7th-12th Grades. The Festival is being sponsored by the Oregon Coast Children’s Theatre & Center for the Arts. The event will be held in two county’s starting with Lincoln County on September 1st, 2nd & 3rd, 2018 in Toledo. The event will be part of Toledo’s Art Walk in its 25th Anniversary Year. The Art Walk is put on by the Professional Artists of Toledo, Oregon. The second part of the festival will be held in Tillamook County dates to be announced.
The Youth Art Festival is open to 3 age categories- 7th & 8th Graders, 9th & 10th Graders, and 11th & 12th graders. Ages determined by the grade they were enrolled in from –January of 2018-June of 2018.
This is the 2nd time for the Festival the 1st one was done in 2016 as the festival will be done every 2 years. Over 220 students took part in 2016. This time entries are accepted in the Medium of “Painted Art” in watercolor, acrylic, or oils painted by a brush, or pallet knife. Works must be on paper, board, or canvas of at least 8×11 inches can be larger as the image will be digitally scanned so all works appear at a uniform size. Work must be no older than done in 2017-2018. Interested youth artists need to just send a jpeg image of their work to –
Include Name, Grade, and School, Title of work, name of art instructor, and contact info e-mail, phone number or mailing address. Please no abstract works try to keep to the “Natural World” depiction of person, animal, landscape, as some examples. (A copyright of 2018 will be placed on the digital copy, rights remain with the artist but OCCT retains the right to exhibit and post the winners of the contest on their website. Also ask your art instructor, councilor, or teacher must certify by e-mail that the work was done by the student, this can be done up to 10 entries per school or instructor. Please only one entry per artist. In the case of homeschooled youth please have an adult other than the parent certify the work was done by the student. This can be a librarian, councilor, or art center staff person.
Prizes and Awards!
Cash prizes will be given to the top 3 works in- 7th-8th, 9th-10th, & 11th-12th. $100.00 for 1st place, $50.00 for 2nd place, & $25.00 for 3rd.
In addition all entries have a chance to win art supplies, and students of all ages can submit works as part of a push pin exhibit of youth art and have a chance to win art supplies. Entries for the 7th-12th grades must be received before July 20th, 2018.
