At around 1:15am Thursday, Officer Henderson of the Toledo Police Department tried to stop a light colored Honda Accord on Highway 20 near the East Junction for no license plate. The Accord continued eastbound at a high rate of speed.
A Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy was able to deploy spike strips about 10 miles east of Toledo. The vehicle hit the spikes but continued eastbound eventually coming to a stop near milepost 26 on Highway 20. It was later determined that the Honda Accord had been stolen out of Salem earlier in the evening. The driver and three passengers were identified. Two of the occupants were taken into custody.
The driver was identified as Clinton Griest, 23 of Keizer. Griest was taken into custody and lodged at the Lincoln County Jail by the Toledo Police Department for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, in addition to multiple outstanding warrants and additional charges pending from Toledo PD. Passenger Nicole Connelly, 28 of Salem, was jailed on a probation violation. Additional passengers, Justice Smith 21, of Salem and Krystal Evans 20 of Salem, were released from the scene.
