Artist Michael Gibbons’ works included in the Celebration of Oregon Group Show at LaSells Stewart Center Gallery, Corvallis
The work of Michael Gibbons, well known regionalist painter from Toledo, Oregon, has been juried into the Celebration of Oregon Group Show at the LaSells Stewart Center Gallery, 875 SW 26th Street, Corvallis.
“RURAL BARN”, oil on canvas, 24”x 30”, was painted in the Coastal Range and shows Gibbons love of the large trees of this area as he makes the viewer’s focus the forefront , thereby dwarfing the adjacent barn nearby.
“VIEW IN SCHREINER’S GARDEN”, oil on canvas, 15”x 24” shows breathtaking swaths of color which define the bulbs planted in rows, soon to be dug and sold. Schreiner’s Iris Farm has been a subject to paint for Michael Gibbons for more than 10 years as he annually travels to the Kaiser area for the sole purpose to capture the flowers at their peak in May. This exhibit will be an appreciation for the beauties of Oregon and those who have protected it. The show opens May 1, and a reception for the public is planned for Thursday, May 3, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Michael Gibbons will be present at the reception to greet friends and collectors.
