Those who study whales, dolphins and porpoises are offering a wonderful opportunity to enlist local residents to help them in their research. The American Cetacean Society will be holding a meeting at the Newport Public Library to launch a citizen project in Oregon’s Marine Reserves. The meeting involves training and direction on a number of sites along the Oregon Coast that offers abundant opportunities to gather data on whales, dolphins and porpoises. Volunteers can pick from a number of sites and choose the days and times that fit their schedule.
If you would like more information, plan to attend the meeting at the Newport Public Library Saturday, May 5th, 10am, 35 NW Nye, in Newport. For more information call 541-517-8754.
