Oceanographers have long lamented the huge build-up of big, medium and tiny-sized bits of plastic gathering in our oceans – big pools of the stuff in several areas across the Pacific and other oceans. Now, imagine ridding the oceans of those floating garbage patches – taking all that plastic and re-melting and re-using them for new products. Not for bottles or plastic utensils, but for things like housing, road surfaces and so much more.
A bright-eyed young man has persisted with his dream of vacuuming the seas of floating masses of plastic particles and turning it all into useful things for tomorrow’s world.
