Report of a logging truck rollover on 101 at East Windy Way. Yachats Fire and medics are enroute.
Driver not injured. Log truck on its side. Four logs came off the truck – trees stopping them from rolling down 150 feet to the rocks below.
The truck is off the west side of 101. The truck tractor has flipped just off the southbound travel lane.
Neighbors complain that the speed limit sign you see as you head south out of Yachats is confusing. There is one sign that says “End 40mph limit”…then up the road a ways there is a yellow (non-speed limit) caution sign that says “30mph” with a squiggly arrow. Neighbors say it’s confusing to too many people because of too many near misses and too many crashes. And if you roll the wrong way, it’s 150 feet down to the rocks. ODOT has replaced/repaired the guard rail at the top of that grade quite often.
