By a vote of his peers, Glen Burke was named 2017 Employee of the Year at Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital (SNLH). Chief Executive Officer Lesley Ogden, MD, presented this coveted award to Burke during a recent celebration.
Although Burke is a relative newcomer to the hospital, he has made a positive impression with his quiet demeanor, strong work ethic and diligent attention to detail that helps keep the hospital clean.
His supervisor, Jason Scarborough, praised Burke for his dependability, his positive attitude and for being a true team player. “Glen deserves this recognition so much,” he said. When the announcement was made, Burke praised his fellow workers for being a supportive team and even cut his own congratulatory cake.
Burke was hired in March 2016 as a per diem dietary cook, filling in as needed. Six weeks later, he accepted a secondary position of housekeeper and by August 2016 he was in that role full-time.
Throughout the year, SNLH staff submit nominations for Employee of the Month. Burke was selected for this honor in December.
After the end of the year, all SNLH staff are invited to vote for one of the 12 monthly winners to be named Employee of the Year. The honoree receives a nice monetary reward, a traveling trophy and other prizes in appreciation.
