City Council Incorporates Vision 2040 into 2018-2019 Fiscal Year Goals
The City of Newport will hold a public hearing on its 2018-2019 goals 6 p.m. on March 19 at City Hall during the regular City Council meeting. The City invites all interested and concerned citizens to attend and comment. Comments can also be submitted to email@example.com.
The Newport City Council met in an annual goal setting session on February 26, 2018, to review department and committee goals. The various advisory committees and departmental staff developed goals based on the key strategies identified in the Vision 2040. These focus areas are enhancing a livable region; preserving and enjoying our environment; creating new businesses and jobs; learning, exploring, and creating new horizons; improving community health and safety; and fostering collaboration and engagement. At the City Council’s goal setting session, the department heads presented their goals to the Council, and each individual Council member scored each of the goals. In addition, department heads identified any new job requests as part of the 2018-19 budget. Lastly, the City Council identified additional priorities of its own as goals for the 2018-19 Fiscal Year.
All of the proposed goals can be found under the newportoregon.gov Public Hearings tab or at http://newportoregon.gov/citygov/publiccomment/Public_Hearing_and_Approval_of_Proposed_Council_Goals_FY_18-19.pdf
