10th annual Lincoln City Half Marathon & 10K is Sunday, March 4
There is still time to enter the 10th annual Lincoln City Half Marathon and 10K which takes place Sunday, March 4 at Taft High School’s Voris Field.
Online race registration ($55 for the half marathon and $45 for the 10K) is available until midnight Friday, March 2 at www.getmeregistered.com. Participants can also register in person through 3 p.m. Saturday, March 3 at the Lincoln City Community Center, or 7 – 8 a.m. on race day (for a slight additional fee), Sunday, March 4.
Approximately 200 runners and walkers will toe the line for the main start at 9 a.m. Half marathon walkers have the option of an early start at 8 a.m.
The scenic out-and-back course, which will follow Schooner Creek at the base of the Coast Range, can be a challenge for serious competitors but it is also perfect for anyone running or walking their very first 10K or half marathon.
Volunteers will be stationed throughout the course to provide safety, encouragement and hydration. The volunteers represent North Lincoln County Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.), Taft Senior Parent Group, Girl Scouts, Taft Girls Golf, Lincoln City Youth League, Taft Track and Field, and the Kiwanis Club of Lincoln City. These groups will receive a portion of race proceeds.
Race mementos for all participants include long-sleeved technical T-shirts, finisher medals and great finish line refreshments – including cake to celebrate the 10th anniversary of this event! Ribbons will be awarded to the top three finishers in five-year age groups and the overall male and female finishers for each race will receive a signature hand-blown glass float.
Packet pickup takes place from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 3 at the Lincoln City Community Center, or beginning at 7 a.m. Sunday, March 4 at Voris Field.
