The final steel beam on the new Pacific Communities Hospital construction project in Newport was hoisted into place Wednesday. It’s been of great interest to our community….and was such a beautiful day too.
This “topping out” moment is a tradition of ironworkers to recognize the completion of a job well-done. Everyone was welcomed to watch as the crane hoisted the beam into place at the very top of the building. After that, the American flag was placed and will remain on top for the duration of the project.
The final beam is autographed with hundreds of signatures and well-wishes from members of the community, who stopped by last week to sign the 30-foot beam.
Here is a short animation of what the new PCH will look like when finished next year!!
