The Newport Warming Shelter run by Traci Goff-Flowers and her troops are stocking up on food, clothing and other critical items. But they need more VOLUNTEERS.
Volunteers work either 5:30pm to 10pm, or 10pm to 7am.
The evening shift involves serving food, securing bedding for the guests and to socialize with them and to ascertain if they have anything else they need.
The overnight shift begins the clean up for the next day and to watch over and ensure the safety of the guests.
The daytime shift distributes food, clothing, gloves, jackets, scarfs, etc. The volunteers engage the guests to learn more about their needs, to provide warm encouragement, affirmation, respect and referrals to community resources.
Those volunteering at Seafood and Wine will help staff entrances to the event for which the Warming Shelter will be given a donation by the event.
