The City of Newport is upgrading the Newport Visual Arts Center’s north facing, ocean-side exterior and entry way (777 NW Beach Dr.). The VAC Steering Committee is accepting design sketches or photo comps to guide and inform the decision-making process. This is a pro bono process though contributing designers will be recognized. Elements to include are a large VAC “ribbon” logo and block lettering, “NEWPORT VISUAL ARTS CENTER.” Budget does not allow for moving any load-bearing walls. New building colors will not change. The proposal deadline is February 19 and the complete RFP can be downloaded from http://www.coastarts.org/events/2018/02/call-for-design-proposals-newport-visual-arts-center/
The VAC Steering Committee is looking for an inviting entry that works with the building’s current structure, new colors and placement of sculptural logo. Designs do not need to be finalized renderings, and they do not need to be submitted by licensed architects. Send design submissions as .pdf or .jpg files to Tom Webb, email@example.com.
The Newport Visual Arts Center is owned by the City of Newport and managed by the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts.
