Newport Police: School Board Chairman Ron Beck cited by Newport Police for Disorderly Conduct – Juveniles cited/charged

On January 10th at 5:15pm, Newport Officers responded to a physical altercation in the parking lot of Central Lincoln PUD, 2129 N. Coast Hwy. Officers arrived and found School Baord Chairman Ronald Beck at the location. Beck was injured, and reported he was assaulted by a group of juveniles. The juveniles fled the area in a vehicle prior to Police arrival.
Officers were able to identify the owner of the suspect vehicle through a description provided by Beck. Officers conducted an investigation and identified five juveniles, ranging from 16-17 years of age that were associated with the vehicle and altercation.
Officers learned the incident began when Beck confronted a juvenile driver for entering an exit only driveway on PUD property after hours. Beck and the driver exchanged words. Beck exited his vehicle and began to walk towards the vehicle. Two of the juveniles exited the vehicle and exchanged words with Beck. The juveniles approached Beck and Beck was reported to have punched one of the juveniles. The juvenile that was struck by Beck and a second juvenile physically fought with Beck. A third juvenile exited the car, and punched Beck multiple times. Beck and one of the juveniles both called 911 to report the incident.
A 16 and 17-year-old male, and a 17-year-old female were arrested and lodged in Juvenile Detention for Assault 4, Harassment, and Disorderly Conduct 2 for their involvement in the disturbance and assault. Beck was cited and released for Disorderly Conduct 2 for his role in the disturbance.
