Well Traveled, Well Seasoned, Well Loved – The Alexander String Quartet at Neskowin Chamber Music

The Alexander String Quartet
Appearing in Neskowin Chamber Music series

The Alexander String Quartet, which is celebrating its thirty-sixth year as an ensemble, will present a concert in the Neskowin Chamber Music series on Sunday, February 11th at 3 p.m. at Camp Winema. It replaces the Lark Quartet which was unable to come.

In those years, the Alexander has performed in the major music capitals of the world on five continents. It is widely admired for its interpretations of Beethoven, Mozart, and Shostakovich and its recordings of these works have been acclaimed by critics everywhere. It is also known for its advocacy of new music and has commissioned a number of works in that genre.

The quartet is a major presence in San Francisco, its home base. It serves as Ensemble in Residence for San Francisco performances and as director of the Morrison Music Center at San Francisco State University’s College of Liberal Arts.

The Alexander’s performance calendar includes appearances at Lincoln Center, the 92nd Street Y, and the Metropolitan Museum in New York City, Jordan Hall in Boston and the Library of Congress and Dumbarton Oaks in Washington, among other places. Among their many recordings are pieces by Cole Porter and George Gershwin.
