Sneaker wave near Depoe Bay hits couple and farther south a Nevada man is missing after being hit by wave
A couple watching the waves Wednesday from some rocks near Depoe Bay got hammered by a sneaker wave. Fortunately the male regained footing and grabbed his wife and they’re now back on the beach. Ambulance enroute.
Both are walking and talking. They got lucky.
Meanwhile down the coast a man from suburban Reno is presumed drowned after he was washed off a beach outcropping along the South Coast.
Mid-morning today Oregon State Troopers from Gold Beach and the U.S. Coast Guard responded to a report of a man who had been swept off the rocks by waves near Indian Sands Trail near Brookings.
The victim has been identified as 21-year old Christopher Kareck of Sparks, NV, east of Reno. The search is expected to continue until sunset or when conditions are no longer safe enough to continue.
