Oregon’s population blew past 4 million this year as rapid high tech and tourism worker inflow filled the state and sent housing costs higher because construction is not keeping up with demand.
And some say it’s only going to get worse because funds for affordable housing are hard to come by and are threatened further by the political turmoil in Washington DC. Many point out that the lack of affordable housing is actually hurting Oregon’s economy.
