A High Surf Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for the Central Coast, which is in effect from 9:00pm this evening to 1:00pm Wednesday. West-northwest swells of 18-20 feet will reach the coastline late this evening.
Breaking waves will run-up beaches much higher than normal. Waves will likely break over jetties much closer to shore than normal. Large driftwood logs will likely roll under the high surf with injuries or death possible to those near or on the logs. A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.
