Adopt-A-Highway Cleanup by Newport Surfrider and Oregon Hang Gliders
The Newport Chapter of Surfrider International and the Oregon Hang Gliders are partnering for an Adopt-A-Highway cleanup on Saturday December 9th from 10am-Noon. Volunteers are needed to pick up trash along a two mile section of Highway 101 north of Newport. Highway cleanups are important because we can eliminate trash on the roadside that could blow onto the beach or wash into storm water ditches on the highway and flow with the water through culverts to the beach.
Volunteers will meet at Moolack Beach Parking Area 4.5 miles north of Hwy 20. Volunteers are asked to bring clothing appropriate for the weather, and reusable gloves if they have them. Surfrider provides bags, single use gloves, grabbers, a high visibility vest and, of course, coffee.
In case of a change due to inclement weather, cleanup coordinator Pete Snell asks volunteers to RSVP at firstname.lastname@example.org
