From Toledo PD
Friday just before Noon Detective Aaron Pitcher of the Toledo Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired tags in the area of NE Arcadia and Burgess in Toledo. But instead of stopping, the Honda Coup sped off east toward Highway 20.
The vehicle, later determined to have been driven by 39 year old Earl Anthony Reid of Toledo, continued onto Highway 20 heading east at speeds of up 70 mph. The vehicle eventually stopped at Pioneer Mountain Loop.
Detective Pitcher had Reid at gun point waiting for back up from county sheriff’s deputies and Oregon State Police. In the meantime Reid continued to yell at Detective Pitcher to shoot him.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene and Reid was taken into custody without further incident.
Reid was transported to Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport for an evaluation and then lodged at the Lincoln County Jail. He was arrested for Felony Elude, Reckless Driving, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine. Reid is a correction offender on post prison supervision for methamphetamine possession.
