Port of Newport News Release

“The Port of Newport has accepted the resignation of its General Manager Kevin Greenwood. The Port of Newport is appreciative of Kevin Greenwood’s efforts in guiding the Port at a time when it is facing challenging issues. His tenure at the Port is notable for the many relationships, local and otherwise, he has fostered. The recent election of two new Port Commissioners signified a change in direction for the Port and as such the commission felt a change in Port leadership was also necessary.”

The Port has also announced that they’re looking for a fill-in manager while they look for a permanent successor to former Manager Kevin Greenwood. Here’s their announcement on that part:

GENERAL MANAGER PRO TEM ANNOUNCEMENT
The Port of Newport, an exciting, diverse organization located on Yaquina Bay, is seeking a qualified and motivated professional to serve as General Manager Pro Tem.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS
• A Bachelor’s degree
• Management of government activities experience
• At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in leadership/management
• Experience with a Board of Directors or volunteer officials

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience in building consensus, critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Experience analyzing financial information: read it, understand it and describe it in
layman’s terms
• Vision for moving forward in broad terms and ability to communicate it in context and
to work with existing staff to transition to new management and provide transparency
• Demonstrated skill in public outreach
• Contract management and negotiation skills
• Experience in Port Management and/or Port Operations
